During World War Two, the USA shipped all manner of machinery to the UK, including Mack trucks. After the war, British circus companies bought many of the old Mack war trucks for their transport fleets.
Chipperfields Circus shipped four Mack NM trucks from the UK to South Africa in 1961. Because the circus later travelled around South Africa by train, it left the Mack trucks – one crane truck and three tractors – in a yard in Pretoria. Their fate is unknown to both the circus and its fans.
Chipperfields Circus would love to know what happened to its four Mack trucks – did they continue service or were they scrapped several decades ago?
