South Africa’s premier agricultural show, Nampo Harvest Day, provides a platform to showcase the latest trends, innovations and networking opportunities within the agricultural industry. The annual expo runs from 17 to 20 May in Bothaville in the Free State.
Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) will reiterate its focus on the agricultural sector, as it aims to address the sector’s requirements through its products and value chain offerings.
Kobus van Zyl, executive director of Daimler Trucks & Buses Southern Africa, says, “Those in attendance at this year’s Nampo Harvest Day will be drawn to the MBSA stands, where all our commercial vehicle brands will be displayed. Through our Mercedes-Benz trucks, Fuso trucks and buses, Freightliner, Western Star and Mercedes-Benz Vans, any and all agricultural applications are catered for.”
In an environment of high specialisation, the trucks that MBSA has available offer diverse body customisation choices, such as dropside bodies, tankers, tippers and various other attachments. According to the company, high loading capacity, fuel efficiency, impressive towing weight and convenient loading are characteristics that the Fuso FA9, Mercedes-Benz Atego, Axor and Actros, Western Star and Freightliner Argosy are renowned for. Mercedes-Benz Vans will be showcasing the newly-launched Vito and V-Class, and the multi-purpose Sprinter.
Nicolette Lambrechts, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Southern Africa, says, “The agricultural sector benefits from our van model offerings, such as the Mercedes-Benz Vito Mixto, which is a workhorse and people carrier all in one, as well as the luxurious V-Class for those well-earned family holidays. As farmers and others in the industry rely on staff, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter ticks all the right boxes when it comes to moving staff members from one site to another.”
MBSA will also use the event to highlight its value chain offerings, including CharterWay, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, FleetBoard and TruckStore. According to the company, this chain ensures that MBSA is a convenient one-stop shop for the agricultural industry.
CharterWay offers its customers mobility and procurement, servicing, and management services of and for commercial vehicles. This range of services is delivered through MBSA’s network of authorised dealers and service points.
Mercedes-Benz Financial Services offers a wide range of vehicle finance solutions, insurance and tailor-made products designed to accommodate all customers’ financial requirements.
FleetBoard is Daimler’s all-in-one package that assists commercial vehicle operators to optimise efficiencies with telematics services. With information on vehicles and trips instantly available for analysis or further processing, data can be easily integrated in existing programmes, allowing operators to focus on their core competencies.
In addition, TruckStore facilitates buying and selling of all used commercial vehicles. Farmers and agricultural practitioners, according to MBSA, can count on reliable quality, advice and a selection from a large pool of used commercial vehicles of all brands, ages and types at the outlet.
