MAN Automotive successfully completes 318 bus health checks

During the pre-holiday season months of October and November 2017, MAN Automotive’s after sales network  successfully completed 318 technical health checks on customer bus fleets. These checks, were conducted absolutely free of charge to the MAN and VW bus customers who presented their vehicles for detailed inspections at authorised MAN Franchised Dealers.

Professional inspections were carried out on the following items:

Ø Brakes
Ø Steering and suspension
Ø Fluid levels
Ø Lights and warning indicators
Ø Wiper blades and windscreens
Ø Door mechanisms
Ø Batteries

Of the 318 vehicles that underwent these inspections, 177 required some form of rectification work, which was then completed to the required MAN standards. This statistic underscores the importance of having trained professionals evaluate passenger-carrying rolling assets.

“This bus and coach-focused health check campaign followed the very successful truck campaign which was conducted earlier this year,” commented Anton Fuchs, MAN’s Head of Parts & Services Sales. “These promotions are a fantastic way to get all MAN and VW customers to visit our facilities and to give our well-trained technicians the opportunity to point out areas of the vehicle which do not meet required MAN or legal standards, and then of course, to fix those shortcomings during the same visit, thereby reducing down-time to an absolute minimum.”

General Manager of United Truck Centre in Polokwane, Jacques Swanepoel stated: “Our team used this initiative to give added momentum to our ongoing ‘Striving for Excellence’ customer-focus programme. It has helped us evaluate many buses which we are servicing the Mokado and Hoedspruit areas, thereby ensuring higher up-time and productivity for our Customers’ fleets whilst achieving improved running-cost efficiency at the same time.”

Philip Kalil-Zackey, Head of Bus Sales at MAN Automotive commented: “The Health Check programme on buses and coaches is a tangible value-added service offered by our after sales team and clearly is very popular with our demanding customers. It gives us all much greater peace of mind knowing that a considerable number of MAN buses and coaches in service over the festive season have undergone thorough technical checks and are at a standard required for safe, trouble-free journeys.”
